This probably isn't the best suited fabric for a dress but I loved it when i saw it and thought, why not a dress? It's 100% cotton, and makes a good casual dress, I just happened to have scrap fabric lying around, and it matched perfectly for a contrast color for the neck binding and welt pockets. The pattern I used is Butterick 5602, view C. I did make some modifications, I didn't line the dress, I haven't gotten to the point where I feel comfortable or feel like I'm that advanced a seamstress to fully line anything. I will eventually work my way there, but for now, I will keep it simple. I know all the reasons why you should line a dress, but overall I don't think it takes away from the look.
Nice dress, love the contrasting trim. What is the print on the fabric? And, it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteJamie, that is gorgeous. I recognized it as the Butterick pattern right away. Your take is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary, yes, I do like the pattern and I can myself using it again, maybe I'll go with view A next time.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Saw you on Sew Country Chick after I posted my project for the week. Love how nicely this dress is fitted. You did a great job!
